All American Hearing Raises Funds For CCA

aahgolf

On August 11th, Starkey HearCare joined forces with the Children’s Cancer Association as the lead sponsor in the sixth annual golf pro-am.  The goal of the event was to help raise money for children battling cancer.  This year we were able to help raise more than $77,000 for the CCA!

Operation Change

OperationChange_Image_June2014

At Starkey HearCare Centers, our providers and patients are well aware of how we partner with Starkey Hearing Technologies to combat hearing loss and make a positive improvement in the lives of individuals and families.  However, what you might not know about is the tremendous philanthropic work being carried out by Starkey Hearing Technologies and the Starkey Hearing Foundation around the world.

Beginning June 23 at 9pm CST – the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) will begin airing a 10-part documentary series called Operation Change.  This documentary will showcase stories about some of the world’s most challenging issues and the organizations that are working to bring positive change.  During each episode, Starkey Hearing Technologies’ owner and Starkey Hearing Foundation’s co-founders Bill and Tani Austin, along with Starkey Hearing Technologies’ Steven Sawalich, and their team will go to different parts of the world, immerse themselves in the local community, and work to help empower and improve the lives of entire communities with the help of local organizations.

Everyday our great staff at Starkey HearCare change the lives of patients one individual at a time. Hearing loss is the third most prevalent, treatable, disabling condition behind arthritis and hypertension within the United Sates. Globally, it is an epidemic impacting more than 360 million people. Every year within our network of Starkey HearCare Centers, we see more than a million Americans walk through our door for treatment services. These patients don’t realize it, but they are part of a small percentage of consumers globally that have access to hearing care. I am proud to say our network of Starkey HearCare Centers donates proceeds from every hearing aid sale to support the great work of the Starkey Hearing foundation. The Starkey Hearing Foundation is not only working to improve the lives of individuals and families affected by hearing loss, but they are also working to make a positive change in the global community with sustainable projects and empowering people to help themselves.

Please continue your support of Starkey Hearing Technologies & the Starkey Hearing Foundation by tuning in to OWN to watch Operation Change beginning June 23.

AAH and Oregon Lions Help Those in Need

Here is a nice testimonial for The Oregon Lions and Starkey HearCare that was posted in their most recent newsletter:

Roar! Recipient is Grateful For Free Hearing Aids

“I am so grateful for your generosity in providing hearing aids to me at no cost to me. The Lions Club approved me, and I understand that Starkey HearCare are the ones gifting the hearing aids to me. While going through chemo treatments to my brain, part of the process resulted in significant loss of my hearing. While it was well worth getting rid of lymphoma, losing some hearing was becoming hard to deal with. I can certainly relate to the struggles people go through who have hearing loss… I must say, the aids I have been given are amazing.”—Dan Merrill, Roseburg

All American Hearing Gives Back!

The Season of Giving is upon us

Everyday we bring hundreds of patients the gift of better hearing; but what else can we do?
The Holidays are fast approaching and as the spirit of giving is reawakening in many of us it’s easy to see that in every community, in every city in America there are needs all around us.
We wanted to encourage you and your teams to do something special for your community.
Whatever it is that you would like to do, please share it with us here at AAH before you begin your efforts. The idea isn’t that we simply donate money. We’re wanting AAH to take a philanthropic approach to participating in our communities.

We sincerely look forward to your great ideas.

Here’s what we’re doing

Jacque Ross – Mesa, AZ
Each year Jacque and her husband raise donations for care packages to support our troops as well as toys for local children and food for a local shelter. Jacque would encourage the support of her local Arizona locations if anyone would like to contribute.

Melissa Withers – Jacksonville, FL
Melissa is exploring the possiblity of obtaining a bulk quantiy of ‘FREE TURKEY” coupons which they’ll use to donate to either a local shelter or perhaps in food baskets. This plan is in it’s early stages but she’s off to a good start. Anyone in the area is welcome to call Melissa if they’d like to participate in her efforts.

AAH National Office – Clackamas, OR
Our staff at the National office and our Clinic are joining efforts to sponsor a Family for the holidays this year. Shelley Smith is leading this effort and we’re so excited to get started. We’ll provide gifts for the family as well as a food basket.

Kristie Hernandez – North Platte, NE
Last year the North Platte, NE office collected canned goods for their local food pantry. Patients were encouraged to bring in canned goods and they could receive a free pack of batteries. This year Kristie is inviting all of Nebraska to join North Platte in this effort. Outstanding!

Darlene Angeline – Auburn, WA
Darlene crochets hats to give to patients who are undergoing cancer treatments. She has recently been inspired to crochet even more to give to the local womens shelter, mission and children’s hospital for other people battling cancer. We’re encouraging anyone in Darlene’s area (or even further if you’d like) to participate in this effort with her. Perhaps you have crocheting skills, or maybe you have yarn you’d like to donate!

Leah Karraker – Salem, OR
Our Salem, OR office is teaming up with the Oregon School for the Deaf to do a School Supply Drive and/or Toy Drive for their students in need. We’re encouraging anyone in Oregon to reach out to Leah if you’d like to participate. Or if you’d like to getmore information on how you can start your own local supply drive!

Hear For You – Saratoga, NY
Yvonne Beliveau reports that she, Andrew and Lee at the Hear For You office in Saratoga Springs, NY are doing a “Toys for Tots” toy drive. We encourage the rest of the Hear For You clinics to reach out to them if you’d like to participate!

Hearing Unlimited – Iowa
Last year the Iowa Group, in 23 offices, collected canned goods for their local food pantries. They were so successful that they are doing this again this year! If a patient donates a canned good they get a free package of batteries. We are also encouraging every employee to do something special, by themselves, to “paying it forward” this holiday season & share it with the the group.

Hearing Aid Institute – Montana
The “Toys for Tots’ drive they did last year was so successful they are doing it again this year. Billings, Butte, Great Falls, Helene and Missoula locations will be a drop off point for Toys for Tots from November 18 – December 13th. The Bozeman office does not have a Toys for Tots program so they will be working with the FoodBank as a drop off point. Anyone who brings a donation will receive a free pack of batteries and a hearing test!
